AMRITSAR: Rejecting assertions regarding the plight of Hindus, the Pakistan High Commission on Wednesday reiterated full commitment of the government of Pakistan in ensuring the welfare and well-being of the Hindu community in Pakistan.
In past there have been various instances of persecutions of Hindus by Islamic fundamentalists forcing them to migrate to India.
Recently the community was once again in grip of fear following demolition of Sri Rama Peer temple in Karachi.
The temple was allegedly brought down by a real estate developer. A statement issued by Pak High Commission on Wednesday said that "As equal citizens, the Hindus in Pakistan enjoy all the fundamental rights enshrined in the constitution of Pakistan, including the right to freely practice their religion". It also informed that the government has taken important steps towards promoting interfaith harmony as well as for ensuring protection and promotion of the cultural heritage of all communities in Pakistan.
